I am Plains Cree & Red River Metis and have been reconnecting to my culture and family for over 20 years, since I met my Birth Mother in 2000.

This is one way we introduce ourselves in our languages, Anishnabemowin & Kanyen:keha being languages of the current territory in which I live and have been learning and reclaiming now for about 3 years.

Feel free to click on any of my links above to get to know me better.

If you wish to engage in conversation, there are many ways to contact and connect with me. I would suggest an email to start.

Evaristo Ramos, Jr.
roo@gindigenouscc.org

I am Lipan Apache from my father’s side and I am currently still researching my mother’s side which now has taken me deeper in Central Mexico. I was born in Texas originally.

I moved to Canada in 2020 to assist in caring for my mother-in-law who unfortunately passed this past year in 2024.

I recently became a Canadian citizen and I am currently researching on the best way to gain my Mexican citizenship so I can travel across Turtle freely without any restrictions.

I am 54 years old and passionate about learning and using my skills and knowledge to help others and teach when possible. I am currently looking at ways to bring more technical knowledge and services to Indigenous communities and to be mindful of traditional knowledge and how it can be paired together.

I strongly believe that data sovereignty and technical skills should be grown from with-in.

I am always open to conversation and participation in actionable ways that will assist our Indigenous communities here locally, regionally, and or across the world.

Nathaniel Thomas
nathaniel@gindigenouscc.org

My name is Nathaniel Thomas.

I am currently nineteen years old living in Guelph as I have all my life.

My ancestry is Ojibwe, Bear Clan, that comes from Saugeen First Nation.

I didn’t grow up with much of the culture except for the last five years due to Guelph being deprived of any indigenous support. But for the last five years I have become connected with community extensively.

The reason I am apart of the GICC is because I understand what it is like to be deprived of my culture and wish to bring forward opportunities to those who were in my position a few years ago. I may be young but I have a lot to give to the community since the community has done so much for me.

Feel free to reach out if you are ever in need of a helping hand or just asking some questions.

Miigwetch for taking the time to read this and have a great day.
